Deal done: Wren Kitchens snaps up 15-acre site on Normanby Enterprise park for latest manufacturing expansion

Leading UK kitchen retailer Wren has bought a 15-acre site from North Lincolnshire Council as part of its continued expansion plans.

The site, which was made accessible with £1m of Government cash, is the latest acquisition from Wren to further strengthen its product development and manufacturing base. The company will add further jobs to its ranks in North Lincolnshire on top of the more than 8,500 people currently employed.

Cllr Rob Waltham, leader, North Lincolnshire Council, has welcomed the development. He said: “This land is a prime location for a businesses like Wren to expand and develop further, creating new jobs.

“Securing the technical jobs in design and product development as well as the manufacturing roles will have a big impact on the local economy.

“This is another example of where the Government has backed our plans for development, providing the vital cash needed to get sites such as this market ready.”

The site was made accessible with a new road and associated infrastructure initially developed thanks to almost £1m from the Government’s Local Growth Fund via the Greater Lincolnshire Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP).

Stephen Parnaby, business development director at Wren Kitchens, said: “As the largest employer in the region, with more 8,500 staff, our roots are in North Lincolnshire.

“We are always looking to expand our products and this acquisition gives us the opportunity and certainty of being able to plan ahead for the future.

“We have an excellent working relationship with North Lincolnshire Council and will be progressing plans to develop this land to complement our headquarters in Barton-Upon-Humber and our two factories in Scunthorpe.

“Collectively, they will service our 105 showrooms nationwide from the UK’s largest kitchen retailer.”

North Lincolnshire Council match-funded the Government’s £1m with £300,000 from its capital Jobs Growth Fund.

Holly Mumby-Croft MP said: “This project has been made possible with the funding previously provided by the Government and the council to make the site accessible.

“It fantastic to be able to see a company like Wren investing in its future but also North Lincolnshire’s.”
