Support Scunthorpe's bid for the Future High Streets Fund

We have a strong vision for how we would like to see Scunthorpe’s High Street transform – with the ambition to create a centre for learning, living, leisure and business, amongst other areas for improvement - but we want to hear from the public about what matters to them.

Support our bid for the Future High Streets Fund

On 30 June 2020 North Lincolnshire Council is submitting its bid to the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government and we would welcome your support.

About the Future High Streets Fund

The Foundry Shopping Centre
The Foundry Shopping Centre, Scunthorpe

The Future High Streets Fund isn't about making the town look prettier, it's for bold new visions, projects that will transform high streets and make them fit for the future. We'd love to hear from North Lincolnshire residents how they think we could improve Scunthorpe’s High Street going forward.

The Future High Streets Fund (FHSF) is to help address the decline of the town centres across the country. In March 2019, North Lincolnshire Council submitted an expression of interest (EoI) to the Future High Streets Fund for Scunthorpe town centre.

In August 2019, the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) announced that Scunthorpe was one of the 100 towns in the running to benefit from the FHSF and will now go onto the next stage.

Shortlisted projects can bid for up to £25m of FHSF funds with the completion of a detailed business case, to deliver their vision for the High Street. A business case is now being developed and will be submitted to MHCLG in June 2020.

North Lincolnshire Council Survey

Now the council would like to hear from residents about how they would like to see the town function in the future.

The survey will help build an accurate picture of how people view and use Scunthorpe’s High Street now, and what they wish to see included in plans for the future. The survey can be accessed below and closes on 30 April 2020.

We are really keen to get the public’s perspective of how people use the town centre. We want people to tell us their experiences of how they live, work, shop and enjoy the space currently so we can put forward the best case to fit the needs of future town centres users and support the business case.
