Businesses invited to join Fostering Friendly scheme

Throughout Foster Care Fortnight (10 to 23 May 2021), North Lincolnshire Council is raising awareness of the work foster carers do and how foster care transforms the lives of children and young people.

Nearly 40 per cent of foster carers combine fostering with other work. Those who do, say that a supportive employer can make all the difference, enabling them to balance employment with looking after children.

North Lincolnshire Council Fostering team are asking businesses if they can help support our local Foster Carers in any capacity you can whether that’s by introducing a HR policy to support foster carers in their roles; sharing information through internal and external communications; displaying posters in any staff or public facing spaces; hosting information events during training sessions; supporting social media and promotional campaigns; sponsoring or donating to events and fundraisers, for a number of examples.

We are inviting businesses to be a part of our Pilot Scheme and become one of North Lincolnshire’s first Fostering Friendly Employers. Once you are approved, you can display your Fostering Friendly logo with pride North Lincolnshire Council will publish a list of Fostering Friendly employers and will help promote and celebrate your new status. During the launch of the Fostering Friendly Scheme later this year we will advertise your company being one of the first to sign up and support North Lincolnshire’s fostering Friendly Scheme.
