Brigg based door manufacturer grows with nearly £26,000 funding

A highly experienced manufacturer of plastic extrusions, uPVC and composite doors based in Brigg, North Lincolnshire has seen its business grow thanks to a £25,890 cash boost from Growing the Humber grant.

Rocal Group applied for the funding to buy machinery to supports its growth in sales, which supported the creating of three new jobs. Growing the Humber is an £8m investment programmed offered by the Humber Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) working in partnership with North Lincolnshire Council.

Rocal had a very successful year, with a strong revenue growth across its three business functions: Endurance Doors, Impressions and ABODA uPVC Panels and Rocal Extrusions.

The largest area of growth came from the Endurance Doors division, with over 20 per cent growth in revenue year-on-year.

Due to the manufacturer’s growth, staff numbers have increased by 30 per cent during the last year. The Rocal Group now employs over 150 people across its business functions.

Rocal has invested heavily in the following areas during the last year:

  • IT infrastructure and systems – for example, a new production scheduling system that has been required due to do an increase in demand
  • Communications systems – for example, a communications dashboard for trade customers and a new telephone system to make contacting Rocal easy
  • Marketing – a focus on digital marketing, as well a web development, social media and digital asset generation
  • New product development
  • Machinery – over £1m invested to set the business up for success and expected growth in sales, for example, machinery that is the best quality available and reliable to safeguard the business from the ill effects of machine breakdown or faults.
  • Transport and vehicles – new fleet of vehicles with sustainability and environmental responsibility in mind

A particular new product development from last year was a new range of uPVC door panels. This new range of uPVC door panels (named the ABODA collection) challenges the current perception of a uPVC door as being old fashioned, poor quality and undesirable. The ABODA range has taken cutting edge, modern design and applied it to a product that is both practical and affordable. Meaning a stylish and inviting front door is accessible to even those with a modest budget for home improvement.

Stephen Nadin, Managing Director at Rocal Group, said:

“2019 has been a very successful year for our business. Not only have we managed to exceed all of our growth objectives, but we have managed to prepare our business for further growth over the next few years. We have done this by investing heavily in our systems, machinery and most importantly, our people. The future for Rocal is certainly bright, and I am confident that the strategy we already have in place will deliver further success moving forwards.”
