The multimillion pound investment will lead to a significant enhancement of cargo handling capabilities at the terminal and will cater for projected volume growth on CLdN's North Sea connections between Killingholme and their terminals in Rotterdam and Zeebrugge.
The work to be undertaken includes a reconfiguration of the cargo handling operations to optimise the flow of freight through the terminal; this will ensure an increase in handling and storage capacity for all cargo types.
CLdN has also invested in five electric rubber tyred gantry (RTG) cranes to replace part of its existing fleet of diesel-powered reach stacker vehicles. This will further improve operational efficiency and will enable the terminal to reduce its carbon footprint by between 5-10%.
